NYC: Arabic Night – Game Show

Come on down for an evening of sushi and surprises at the first Arabic Night Game Show! There will be an opportunity for anyone to get up and compete for fabulous prizes and international fame in a variety of dance improv and trivia games. RSVP on Facebook to let us know you’re coming!

Doors open at 8; show starts at 8:30. $10 admission (includes one raffle ticket), $5 food/drink minimum

Jebon Sushi & Noodle, 15 St. Mark’s Place (bet. 2nd/3rd) – call 212-388-1313 for table reservations.

Here’s how it works:

We’ll have a variety of fun, fast-paced dance games throughout the evening, where you’ll get to strut your skills or just play it up and get crazy! There will be games for teams as well as soloists, so bring your friends. 🙂
Some of the games we are planning:
Technical challenges: Shimmy Showdown, Extreme Layering, Balancing Act
Character challenges: Multiple Personalities iPod Shuffle
“Name that classic tune that you really should know the name of”
Most traditional interpretation … to a non-traditional song!
Most non-traditional interpretation … to a traditional song!
Non-traditional props (but don’t break the restaurant!!)
We’ll need plenty of audience participation to create lists of characters, emotions, and scenarios for the competing performers to work with!!  So bring your best ideas to challenge the dancers in each game.

Audience members will get to vote for their favorites. Small prizes will be awarded for individual games, and larger prizes for the big winners of the night.

And if you’re too shy to get up and dance, we will also have a few music trivia/music recognition games and a prize raffle you can partake in … and we just might award a prize for best audience-submitted idea … (MIGHT!) but it’s got to be really great!

All proceeds will go to help us develop the Arabic Night website and add music clips from recent shows to the password-protected area so that future performers can prepare with confidence!

Arabic Night is part of Bellyqueen’s weekly Djam NYC series. Join us again on Wednesday, Sept. 18, when we will return with live music from the all-star Arabic band and special guest Tarik Sultan. This will be master accordionist Nabawy’s last show with us before he goes on the Hajj pilgrimage, so please come enjoy his wonderful playing and bid him a safe journey!

Say Something Nice :)
