MARCH 5, 2016 (SATURDAY)- PHILADELPHIA
This is our makeup snow date for the blizzard-postponed Organically Grown Egyptian Oriental workshop, sponsored by the very lovely Fatima Bassmah and the very lovely Oreet! We already have about 25 people signed up and do have room for some more, as it’s a big studio! If you register in advance, you’ll be given access to the free video conference call recording that I recorded with registrants on the blizzard day from my cozy apartment! It includes discussion of the concept behind the workshop and exercises to work on in preparation for March 5. (And yes, we also have a snow date for the snow date, because you never know: if March 5th is stormy then we’ll plan on Sunday March 6th as the backup!) Click here to register! and RSVP on Facebook!
JUNE 24-27, 2016 – NEW YORK CITY:
NY THEATRICAL BELLYDANCE CONFERENCE
JULY 16-22, 2016 – EGYPT : SALAMAT MASR
Across the street from the Giza Pyramids! I had a great time teaching at Salamat Masr last year, and am happy to announce I’ll be leading a group there again this year. Facebook page for festival here. What was really special for me was to be able to have time working with and hanging out with the wonderful Egyptian teachers, including Mona el Saeed, Nelly Fouad, Zizi Moustafa, and Dr. Hassan Khalil, as well as meeting some international colleagues. This festival is more geared towards classic styling than some other festivals in Egypt, and a focus this year will be on the influence of composer Mohammed Abdel Wahab on Oriental dance. Signing up by mid-February will get you a $200 discount on the full package! Contact me directly for the package info. Did I mention the luscious swimming pool with view of the pyramids, where you can swim out to the little juice bar for a fresh mango and strawberry cocktail? AND dancing with legends!! Optional add-on dates for more exploration.
