Online Baladi Coaching: Register Now
Register now for online baladi coaching! A small group of people per class will call in together to a conference call line (check with us for inexpensive call options if calling internationally), watch each other’s videos, and get personalized feedback from Ranya — a long-distance semi-private lesson and study session in one. Here’s what participants in the pilot session we did in November are saying: ”It was so good to spend some time with other dancers that are serious and thoughtful about what they are doing.” “I think that this is a terrific idea and makes high quality dance training available to those of us who aren’t surrounded by experts in easy (affordable) traveling distance.”
Over the course of five weeks, you will receive 10 hours of instruction, including individual feedback on three of your own videos, discussion of each other’s videos, and background information about the baladi. Sessions will be recorded, so that you can review the conversation again at a later time.
Be sure to join the Ranya Renee Baladi Video Study Group on Facebook to get updates on scheduling and plans.
Each dancer will record herself dancing to a baladi progression to upload for discussion. Over the course of the series, you may continue working with the same music or choose a new selection to work with.
Dancers will upload their videos one day in advance, to allow all participants time to watch them before the discussion. Please plan to call in to the session 15 minutes before the official start time, so that any technical difficulties can be resolved before the session begins.
Each session will be two hours long. The format will be approximately as follows:
Week 1: First video, dancers A, B, C – 30 minutes each. 30 minutes of overall commentary.
Week 2: First video, dancers D, E, F – 30 minutes each. 30 minutes of overall commentary.
Week 3: Second video, dancers A, B, C – 30 minutes each. 30 minutes of overall commentary.
Week 4: Second video, dancers D, E, F – 30 minutes each. 30 minutes of overall commentary.
Week 5: Third video, all dancers – 15 minutes each. 30 minutes of overall commentary.
The schedule is subject to change depending on registrations; if fewer than six dancers sign up, class length may be reduced.
When you e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to register, please let us know what days/times would work best for you. Each session is five weeks long, but plan for a make-up day in week 6 in case of unexpected changes due to Ranya’s travel schedule.
We hope to schedule sessions at times that allow international callers to participate. You may also organize your own group of 6 participants, and Ranya will work to schedule a series for you around her travels.
Registration and fees:
$199 if paid one week before the start of the series, $250 after.
A $50 nonrefundable deposit secures your spot in the series; full payment is due one week before the start of the series. We need a minimum number of preregistered participants in order for the series to run.
Registration is for the entire five-week series. If you miss a session, there is no refund, but you will still receive a recording of the session you missed.
If you have prepaid but can’t participate in the series, you may sell or transfer your spot to someone else. There will be no credits or refunds unless the series is cancelled.
