Upcoming events for April
April 3-4 Ranya at Yale University, New Haven, CT
I'll be giving a "Master's Tea" talk Friday April 3, at 4pm, at my alma mater, sponsored by the dean of my residential college (Berkeley) while I was a student there. I will also be teaching a dance workshop there Saturday April 4. This is a great honor, and I thank Master Chun and the Yale Belly Dance Society for facilitating my visit. Please contact me for details if you are not a Yale student but wish to attend the event.

Sera - Finding your Movement-voice
Using a series of structured exercises, from seated meditation, to high-energy movements, dancers will be guided to connect deeply to their innate movement, and to their original love of dance. Helpful for performers who want to be more relaxed on-stage, and for newer dancers who want to clarify their intention and desire to go deeper into their dance.
Dunya - Icon: Shape & Design as Dramatic Resource
A dance needs more than inner narrative: it needs structure. Bring five images -- photos, paintings, drawings --- that move you, haunt you, inspire you. From these we'll gather gesture, motifs, and themes upon which to build choreographic structure.
Anasma - Gestural Movement, Storytelling & Character Development
Working with gestural movements, powerful visualizations and emotional shifts, Dancers will be invited to create meaning in their dance. They will learn how to develop specific characters and tell stories while using their current dance technique. This class allows dancers of all level to share any message beyond dance vocabulary and have fun!
Ranya Ren嶪 - Stage Presence: Breathwork & the Art of Improvisation
Develop tools for sending, receiving, and transforming energy in the performance space, to increase your charisma, sense of comfort in improvisation, and connection to others. Special emphasis on working towards self-acceptance as a performer, and expanding your stage presence to include the audience and fellow dancers.
Workshop Fees: Full day rates only: $100 by March 28, $125 after March 28, $150 at the door. Sorry, no refunds or credits after payment has been made.Limited to 20 participants - please register early to ensure your space.
